CYBER SAFETY GUIDE

Part-Time Job/Task Fraud

Pause, verify the request through an official channel and never act under pressure.

Investment & Earning FraudsLast reviewed: 8 September 2026

What is this fraud?

Victims are offered easy income for liking videos, rating products or completing prepaid online tasks.

How does it happen?

Small initial rewards build trust; later the victim must deposit increasing amounts for 'premium tasks' and is denied withdrawal unless more money is paid.

Warning signs

Unexpected WhatsApp/Telegram job offer; payment required to earn; group members displaying profits; bundled tasks; negative balance or withdrawal fee.

How to stay safe

A genuine employer does not require repeated deposits to release earnings. Verify the company and do not transfer money for online tasks.

If you are a victim

Stop paying, inform the bank, call 1930, report online and preserve recruiter numbers, group links, task URLs and all transactions.

Evidence to preserve

Keep transaction IDs or UTRs, bank messages, screenshots, chats, emails, phone numbers, profiles, URLs, app details, and the exact date and time. Preserve original files without editing or deleting them.

Official reporting

For financial cyber fraud, call 1930 immediately, notify your bank or payment provider, and file a complaint through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal ↗. General technical advisories are available from CERT-In ↗.
