Cryptocurrency Fraud
Pause, verify the request through an official channel and never act under pressure.
What is this fraud?
Criminals misuse crypto investments, tokens, wallets or transfers to obtain money or virtual assets through deception.
How does it happen?
Fake exchanges, investment schemes, romance contacts, wallet support, token offers or recovery agents persuade victims to transfer funds or reveal seed phrases.
Warning signs
Guaranteed crypto returns; unsolicited investment mentor; demand for wallet seed phrase; unknown token/airdrop; extra fee to unlock withdrawal.
How to stay safe
Never share a seed phrase or private key. Verify platforms independently, use strong MFA and remember that crypto transfers may be difficult to reverse.
If you are a victim
Contact the exchange immediately, call 1930 for financial loss, report online and preserve wallet addresses, transaction hashes, chats and platform details.
Evidence to preserve
Keep transaction IDs or UTRs, bank messages, screenshots, chats, emails, phone numbers, profiles, URLs, app details, and the exact date and time. Preserve original files without editing or deleting them.
