Work-from-Home Fraud
Pause, verify the request through an official channel and never act under pressure.
What is this fraud?
Fake employers collect registration fees, deposits, personal data or unpaid work by promising remote employment.
How does it happen?
The scam uses fake interviews, offer letters, data-entry contracts, starter kits or penalty clauses to demand money.
Warning signs
Job without proper interview; payment for registration/training/equipment; personal email domains; unrealistic salary; threats of legal penalty for unfinished work.
How to stay safe
Verify the employer through its official website and independently found contact details. Never pay merely to obtain a job.
If you are a victim
Stop communication/payment, alert the bank, call 1930 for financial loss, report online and retain advertisements, offer letters, agreements and chats.
Evidence to preserve
Keep transaction IDs or UTRs, bank messages, screenshots, chats, emails, phone numbers, profiles, URLs, app details, and the exact date and time. Preserve original files without editing or deleting them.
