Internet Banking Fraud
Pause, verify the request through an official channel and never act under pressure.
What is this fraud?
Criminals gain access to net-banking credentials or manipulate the customer into transferring money.
How does it happen?
Fake banking pages, phishing links, malware, remote-access apps or stolen passwords are used to log in and add beneficiaries or transfer funds.
Warning signs
Look-alike bank URLs; unexpected login/beneficiary alerts; certificate warnings; requests to install software; transactions you did not initiate.
How to stay safe
Type the bank's official address yourself or use its official app. Never use links from messages, share credentials or permit screen access.
If you are a victim
Contact the bank's fraud team, block digital banking, change credentials using a clean device, call 1930 and preserve alerts and statements.
Evidence to preserve
Keep transaction IDs or UTRs, bank messages, screenshots, chats, emails, phone numbers, profiles, URLs, app details, and the exact date and time. Preserve original files without editing or deleting them.
