ATM Card Skimming Fraud
Pause, verify the request through an official channel and never act under pressure.
What is this fraud?
Hidden devices copy card data at an ATM or payment terminal, while the PIN may be captured separately.
How does it happen?
A fake card slot, overlay, hidden camera or tampered keypad records the card and PIN for fraudulent use.
Warning signs
Loose or unusual card slot/keypad; concealed camera; card retained unexpectedly; strangers offering help; unexplained cash withdrawals.
How to stay safe
Inspect the ATM, cover the keypad, avoid isolated machines, never accept stranger assistance and enable withdrawal alerts/limits.
If you are a victim
Block the card, inform the bank and ATM-owning bank, call 1930, report online and note the ATM location, time and transaction reference.
Evidence to preserve
Keep transaction IDs or UTRs, bank messages, screenshots, chats, emails, phone numbers, profiles, URLs, app details, and the exact date and time. Preserve original files without editing or deleting them.
