Fake Bank/KYC Call Fraud
Pause, verify the request through an official channel and never act under pressure.
What is this fraud?
A scammer pretends to be a bank or payment-company employee and claims that KYC, account or card action is urgently required.
How does it happen?
The victim is directed to share OTP/PIN/card details, click a link, install an app or transfer a small 'verification' amount.
Warning signs
Threat of immediate account blocking; unofficial mobile numbers; request for confidential details; link/app installation; pressure to stay on the call.
How to stay safe
Disconnect and call the official number printed on the card or listed in the bank's app/website. Complete KYC only through official channels.
If you are a victim
Disconnect the affected device from the internet, notify the bank and block affected services. Preserve essential evidence safely, then remove the suspicious app and change affected credentials from a trusted device. Call 1930 and report online.
Evidence to preserve
Keep transaction IDs or UTRs, bank messages, screenshots, chats, emails, phone numbers, profiles, URLs, app details, and the exact date and time. Preserve original files without editing or deleting them.
