Understand new, used, private and commercial Vehicle Loans, including valuation, LTV, documents, hypothecation, insurance requirements and charges.
1. What is a Vehicle Loan?
A Vehicle Loan may help an eligible applicant purchase an eligible new or used vehicle. The lender generally assesses the applicant, income, repayment capacity, credit profile, vehicle, dealer or seller records and transaction details.
The financed vehicle is generally hypothecated to the lender until applicable dues and release requirements are completed.
2. Vehicle categories
- New private car
- Used private car
- Two-wheeler
- New commercial vehicle
- Used commercial vehicle
- Eligible business-use vehicle
Eligibility, amount, tenure and pricing differ by category, vehicle age and lender policy.
3. Ex-showroom and on-road price
Ex-showroom price generally excludes registration, road tax, insurance and other on-road costs. On-road price generally includes the applicable vehicle price and related statutory or selected costs. The lender may not finance every component; confirm financed components and own contribution.
4. Down payment and LTV
Down payment or margin is contributed by the customer from eligible own sources.
The lender-considered value may differ from the dealer quotation, customer expectation or used-vehicle asking price.

8. Private and commercial vehicle assessment
Private-loan assessment commonly focuses on the individual, income, credit profile and vehicle. Commercial assessment may also consider business vintage, transport experience, fleet, route or activity, banking, cash flow, permits and statutory records. Requirements remain lender-specific.
9. EMI and tenure
EMI contains principal and interest according to the schedule. A longer tenure may reduce EMI but increase total interest. Compare EMI, total repayment, useful life and expected usage.

Hypothecation generally records the lender’s financial interest in the vehicle. Lender details may appear in the registration record until closure and completion of the removal process.
